11 Months - I'm a Weaner!

Full disclosure: I totally stole that line from one of my favorite mommy blogs.  But it's true, Lukie is 11 months old and in about the last week or so he has been weaned from mumsie (though fear not, plenty of juice left in the freezer to get him to a year). I can't believe I made it a full year of nursing...and at the same time, I can't believe I have only a few weeks left of Luke's age being measured in months.

In the last month Boo has picked up some cute habits.  First, the Einstein jumper headed back down to the basement, and the Leap Frog musical table came up.  He loves that thing and it's fun to watch those tiny, chubby fingers manipulate the different activities on it.  Also Lukas has learned to deliberately blink.  The daycare ladies showed me first and sure enough, if you look into his eyes and flutter your lids, he will try to copy you.  His version includes squeezing his eyes shut and then popping them open like he's surprising you, which is of course endearing and so funny.  Also the other week I awoke to a smug little laugh through the monitor (uh-huh-huh-huh).  I stumbled toward his door and before I even opened it I knew what was going on.  The little monkey has figured out how to flip his light switch on and off, and was cracking himself up with his new trick.  Plus of course there's the never ending moving-of-the-toilet-paper-and-garbage-cans.  Mr. Busy is having no issues keeping himself well occupied.

In less endearing news Luke has reached the age where he's getting a little too big for two naps a day, but too young yet for one.  Which means he's been spending a lot of his time being cranky.  And when he's cranky or mad, he is LOUD.  Add the never ending tooth parade to that and there isn't enough Tylenol in the world - for either of us.  He's up to 8 teeth and I swear I saw a molar bump in there the other day.  At this stage it would be easier for me to peek into a pissed off alligator's mouth than Lukie's, but who doesn't love a little baby torture?  He continues to be a bruiser.  If he's crawling along and something is in his way he will either toss it over his shoulder like a used tissue, or just crawl right over it.  I've come to realize that Lukas just isn't a super snuggly baby.  G loves to smother him with hugs and he pushes her away almost every time (occasionally leading to tears from the offended party).  He slept in my arms this afternoon for about 25 minutes which was the longest I've gotten to hold him in months!  What can I say, our little Boo Boo is a man with places to go and things to do.

Luke is a big fan of being outside as long as he's moving at his own pace.  He's not loving the swing as much these days but instead wants to hustle through the play set tunnel and keep me running laps to figure out what side he's coming out on, or crawl on the pavement and chase after balls.  He also loves this little cart.

step aside!
actually mom, don't step aside.  if you move your foot i will be eating a pavement sandwich

it's 6:30 a.m. - time for lights on!
ha, and i switch back to off.  i am a baby ninja.
speaking of baby ninja, turn away while i destroy this for you
and don't mind me playing with this (he is obsessed with the toilets.  it is disgusting and i am bleaching them about every day)
Now that the weather is decidedly fall, it's time to bust out the cute hats that you can only get away with for so long:
little monkey man
can't forget miss sass
bundled boys
never too cold to fly!
I was only able to capture a few of my usual bazillion monthly shots, so these are most of them.  If only the kid would sit still...

notice the dent in the forehead.  baby: 0.  metal toy shopping cart: 1
continuing to dwarf mr. bear

oh mama, are you paying attention?
because i am standing up now and you can't stop me
